Eyelash Extension Services FAQ

Please reach us at obsessedoverher@gmail.com or message us if you cannot find an answer to your question.

A semi-permanent enhancement that makes your lashes look longer, curlier, and more voluminous. The extensions  are applied one-by-one on to each natural eyelash using specially  formulated eyelash adhesive. Our lash extensions are fully customizable,  100% vegan friendly – made from high quality synthetic fibers that mimic the  soft and luxurious look of real hairs – available in different lengths,  thicknesses, and curls which allows us to create a look that best suits  each client’s unique personal preference.

Do not curl your lashes or wear mascara and do not consume caffeine the  day of your appointment (it can make your eyes very fluttery and will be  difficult to lash). Please arrive with a very clean lash line / lashes –  remove all eye makeup and clean your lashes with a mild, oil free  cleanser prior to your lash appointment. If you are a contact lens  wearer, it is recommended that you remove your contact lenses and wear  glasses to your appointment. Feel free to bring a lens case and remove  them when you arrive at your appointment. Please arrive 15 minutes  before your appointment time to fill out paperwork for your first  appointment.  Permanent makeup can be a good option for the vision challenged who have difficulty applying their cosmetics  and others with dexterity related conditions such as arthritis,  Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, stroke survivors, and busy  people who don’t have time to spend applying and refreshing makeup  throughout the day and evening. Interest in this service spans the young  to the more mature; those who desire a soft, natural enhancement to  their appearance. It is especially valuable to people who can’t wear  traditional makeup due to allergies and skin sensitivities; active  people who want to look their best for sports activities, and those who  don’t want to worry about “sweating off” or reapplying makeup.

Lash extensions, when done by a certified professional, are completely  safe and is a pain-free procedure. Your eyes will be shut the entire duration of application so no adhesive will ever get into your eyes. The  extensions are meticulously placed one by one on to your natural lash  hairs (never on the skin) with proper isolation to ensure maximum  comfort. It is a relaxing, non-invasive treatment making it a great time  to catch up on some beauty sleep – yes, most of our clients fall  asleep!

Lash extensions can be worn indefinitely with routine maintence. Without refill last 3-6 weeks depending on your natural lash life cycle and skincare routine. Fill-ins are recommended every 2-3 weeks to  maintain desired fullness (this varies due to personal lash shedding  cycle/characteristics + lifestyles + general care). Sleeping on your face, extreme weather changes, steam, sauna, and other activities may  damage the adhesive or crimp the extensions and may require more  frequent visits. About 50% of extensions must be remaining to be  considered a fill. Fills past 4 weeks or with less than 40% of  extensions remaining will be charged at full set price.

Professional semi-permanent eyelash extensions with proper placement  will not damage your natural lashes. Maintaining the health of your  natural lashes is our top priority while enhancing your eyes. Therefore,  it is important to note that results WILL vary between individuals  depending on the current state of your natural lashes (the overall  health and fullness). Lash professionals should only go to a certain  length or thickness above your natural lashes to ensure that your own  lashes remain healthy. For example, if your natural lashes are on the  shorter/thinner side, realistically you probably won’t be able to get a  super full dramatic look, without the possibility of damaging your  natural lashes or major premature shedding (due to heavy extensions). If  you have naturally thin or damaged lashes and are looking to get a full  dramatic look, please reach out to find out if you will be a good  candidate for eyelash extension services before booking an appointment.

Mascara is not recommended, however if you must wear eye makeup, be sure to use oil-free and not waterproof. Proper removal of eye makeup  using a water-based/oil-free remover from the lashes and lash line is  necessary to avoid bacteria build-up/infections as well as extend the  life of your extensions.

Many factors can go into why you may be shedding more lashes than  normal. Is it allergy season? Have you been rubbing your eyes more than  usual or have your eyes been itchy and weeping more than usual? Are you  using the proper aftercare to help alleviate this issue? Have you been  getting enough rest? Stress and lack of sleep will definitely have an  effect on your natural lash growth cycle. Have you had a lifestyle  change lately (more exercising, swimming/spa, tanning)? Other factors  such as exposure to humidity/steam, sleeping on your face, extreme  weather changes, sporting activities, use of heavy makeup or touching  your eyes often will cause the bond on the extensions to loosen up and  shed out prematurely.

Within the next 24 hours, do not get them wet (includes use of  sauna/spa/exercise/tanning), this allows them to fully dry for the best  retention. After that time frame, they are completely waterproof  allowing you to shower, swim, and exercise but remember to be gentle and  do not pick or pull on the lashes. If a lash has turned, use your lash  spoolie to brush it up. Always sleep on your back or with lashes off the  pillow. Use only oil-free/water-based products around the eye area. Do  not perm, tint, or curl lashes with a curler. Cleanse your lashes  regularly to prevent oil and dirt build-up (let lashes air-dry then  brush regularly as needed). If you must use mascara or eyeliner, be sure  it is safe to use with extensions, generally oil free, non waterproof is best.

Yes, after the initial 24 hours to ensure they are dry. You may resume normal activities including, showers, swimming, etc. We encourage washing them daily to keep lashes clean.

Getting lashes can be life altering, for the better, of course. We generally recommend first time clients start with classic lashes as those will be the most natural extensions. It will thicken your lashes as well as lengthen them without the shock. As you get acclimated to lashes, there are options to upgrade and play with other styles.

We recommend that lash extensions be removed professionally, where professional grade lash removal solutions are used. Some believe removal can be done  through steam, an oil-based cleanser, or a product specifically designed to dissolve lash glue. Whatever you use, be sure not to pull or tug at your lash extensions—you could risk damaging your natural lashes as well as lose lashes, causing bad spots.

  • Mascara
Unless you are wearing  oil free mascara which is specifically designed for lash extensions it is a NO (for volume sets even the oil free mascara is unsuitable as it would close  the fans)
  • Makeup
Even though you can get some make up products which are suitable to be worn with eye lash extensions you should not apply this over the lashes but take care that it is just applied to the lash line.
  • Eyeliner
Some  eyeliners are not suitable for lash extensions and can break down the  bond and thus affect retention. Check for eyelash extension safe eyeliners that can be worn with eyelashes without causing premature loss.
  • Makeup Remover
When removing your make up at night it is important to use a suitable make up remover which will not affect your retention.
  • Baby wipes and Cotton pads
Some  people will use baby wipes to remove make up at night however this can  cause loss of retention and the material can also easily catch on the  lashes and pull them similar to cotton pads
  •  Moisturizers and anti - wrinkle cream                                                                        Moisturizers  can break down the lash adhesive so it is best to avoid these around  the eye area (or apply carefully by keeping distance to the lash line).  Also advise your clients to be careful with anti wrinkle creams as they  tend to spread as they get absorbed in the skin so they need to be  applied further away from the lash line.
  • Hair conditioner
This  can cause a build up on the lashes so it is important to try and only  apply the conditioner to the tips and immediately use a lash cleanser to  avoid any affect on the lash extensions.
  • Baby shampoo
Instead of using the recommended Lash and Brow cleanser some clients try and use baby shampoo, however the manufacturers have  actually warned from using this for lashes.
  • Sweating
Excessive  sweating or going to the Gym straight from the lash appointment can  have an impact on retention as the sweat will break down the adhesive.
  • Crying
Whilst  this cannot always be avoided we advise  to use a  cleanser afterwards to remove any traces. The same applies for allergies or watery eyes as the tear solution will have an impact on the lash retention.
  • Hair dryers/ Direct heat
Whilst  this cannot always be avoided we advise  to use a try and keep from directly blowing heat on your face as the lashes can singe.

Black is the best option as it will make the extension visible, but we offer brown for more of a subtle look for those with blonde/gray hair. We also offer a range of colors: red, blue, purple, etc
