A lash lift is a cosmetic procedure that enhances the appearance of natural lashes by giving them a lifted and curled look. It is an excellent option for those wanting longer-looking lashes without extensions or daily curling.
Using a specialized solution, a lash lift involves carefully perming and lifting your natural lashes from the root. Unlike eyelash extensions, which add volume and length by attaching synthetic lashes to your natural ones, a lash lift focuses on enhancing the natural lashes you already have.
Lash tinting is when a semi-permanent lash dye that is applied to the hairs to darken them for a more enhanced look (highly recommended for blondes/redheads).
The duration of your service can vary depending on your original hair color, hair growth cycle, skin type and how much you wash and exfoliate your face. It will fade away naturally. A lash lift creates permanently curled lashes, but the results last 6-8 weeks. Due to the nature of the natural growth cycle, in about 8 weeks, your curled adult lashes will grow old and fall out. New baby lashes will peak through and return back to your natural state.
No. The treatment effects will last as long as your natural growth-cycle. As your hairs naturally shed, they will grow back but in short: lash curlers breaks the bond. Physically curled lashes relax throughout the day and only last until your lashes get wet or come in contact with heat. Also, curling your lashes everyday with a lash curler can break the outer protective sheath of the lashes and make them prone to breakage and look thinner.
Lash lift on the other hand, alters the stronger chemical bonds (disulphide bonds) that make up your lashes and creates a permanent curl until the lashes fall off naturally. During a lash lift, a perm cream is used to break the disulfide bonds and allow keratin molecules to move freely and adjust to their new shape. Then a neutralizing cream is added to reverse the effect of the perm cream. New disulfide bonds form and the keratin molecules are locked into place with a new curled shape. The curl lasts for 6-8 weeks and this process is a healthier alternative for your lashes compared to clamping your lashes everyday with a lash curler.
A lash lift is generally comfortable and painless. However, it's important to note that individual experiences may vary. You may feel a slight sensation during the procedure as the technician applies the lifting solution to your lashes. Some people describe this sensation as a gentle tingling or a mild tightening feeling. However, it should not be painful or uncomfortable.
Suppose you do experience any discomfort during the procedure. In that case, it's crucial to communicate with your lash technician so that they can make adjustments or address any concerns you may have. If you have susceptible eyes or are prone to allergic reactions, it's advisable to inform your lash technician beforehand. They may perform a patch test to check for any potential allergies or sensitivities to the products used during the lash lift and lash tint.
Yes, after the initial 24 hours. Keeping them dry for the recommended time will maximize results. Use cold water to clean the area, if needed. After 24 hours, you may resume normal activities including, hot showers, hot sauna, swimming, etc.
After getting a lash lift, it's generally recommended to avoid wearing mascara or eye makeup for the first 24 to 48 hours. This allows the lifted lashes to set and maintain their shape without interference. The lifting and curling process may still be delicate during this initial period, and using mascara or eye makeup can weigh down or disrupt the lifted lashes.
Once the recommended time has passed, you can resume wearing mascara and eye makeup. However, many individuals find that they no longer need to use mascara regularly after getting a lash lift, as the lifted lashes already create the appearance of length and volume.
Absolutely, but you must wait at least 24 hours to allow the lashes to set. To maintain healthy lashes after a lash lift, apply a lash serum and coat the tips of your lashes with a small amount of castor oil everyday.
Unless you’re allergic to any of the ingredients in hair perm or hair dye (we would recommend to do a patch test first – call to schedule for a patch test appointment BEFORE booking for the service) these eyebrow treatments work for pretty much anyone. This treatment can not be done on broken skin or open wounds on/around the area (permanent makeup eyebrows should be healed at least 12 weeks before getting brow lamination). It is not recommended for those under 18 years of age and women who are breastfeeding or nursing or with a history of skin disorders/reactions to products.
Do not curl your lashes or wear mascara and do not consume caffeine the day of your appointment (it can make your eyes very fluttery and will be difficult to lash). Please arrive with a very clean lash line / lashes – remove all eye makeup and clean your lashes with a mild, oil free cleanser prior to your lash appointment. If you are a contact lens wearer, it is recommended that you remove your contact lenses and wear glasses to your appointment. Feel free to bring a lens case and remove them when you arrive at your appointment. Please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment time to fill out paperwork for your first appointment. Permanent makeup can be a good option for the vision challenged who have difficulty applying their cosmetics and others with dexterity related conditions such as arthritis, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, stroke survivors, and busy people who don’t have time to spend applying and refreshing makeup throughout the day and evening. Interest in this service spans the young to the more mature; those who desire a soft, natural enhancement to their appearance. It is especially valuable to people who can’t wear traditional makeup due to allergies and skin sensitivities; active people who want to look their best for sports activities, and those who don’t want to worry about “sweating off” or reapplying makeup.
Clean your lashes as usual and condition them daily with the castor oil vial that is provided for you. We recommend applying a small amount to the tips of your lashes once a day before you go to bed. This helps keep the lashes hydrated and smooth, so it will grow out nicely. Apply lash serum along your lash line for longer and thicker lashes.
Our clients get their lashes re-lifted every 6-8 weeks. If your hair and nails grow fast, you may want a lash lift closer to the 6 week mark. Also, some months you may experience a shorter lash cycle due to pregnancy, postpartum hair loss, health conditions, menstrual cycle or fall/ spring hair sheds. In these cases, you can get your lashes re-lifted before 6 weeks.
Unfortunately this is normal. Your lashes will look great for the first few weeks but as new lashes grow out of your eyelid, the curled parts of your lash lift get pushed out further. It’s the same concept as when you apply nail polish and watch it grow out in a few weeks. The exact same process happens with your lashes. Your lashes are constantly growing and shedding. Be sure to brush your lashes with a lash brush and use castor oil on your lashes everyday (it really works!). Use a lash serum to extend your lash cycle and schedule a lash lift every 6-8 weeks.
While mild redness or sensitivity immediately after the procedure is expected, persistent or severe irritation shouldn't be ignored. Communicate with your lash technician right away. They can assess the situation, provide guidance, and offer solutions based on their expertise.
Apply a cool compress or clean, damp cotton pads to your closed eyes to help reduce any swelling or discomfort. Avoid rubbing or touching your eyes and wearing makeup or eye products.
If the irritation persists or worsens despite taking these steps, consult a healthcare professional, such as an ophthalmologist or dermatologist. They can assess the situation, diagnose it correctly, and recommend appropriate treatment options.
While both lash lifts and lash extensions are popular choices for enhancing the appearance of your lashes, there are distinct differences between the two procedures.
