*Aftercare kits will be provided with soap and healing cream. You cannot sweat for 7 days after or be in direct sun for 4 weeks so make sure you don’t schedule your appointment before any special events or vacations .Your skin will go through several stages of healing. It is crucial that you follow all steps and recommendations provided to you. Your eyeliner will appear bolder and darker than your final healed result. The intensity of the pigment will settle within a few days and after the 6th-9th day you will see what your eyeliner will end up looking like. Be patient - great things come to those who wait.
Immediately after, the area will be EXTREMELY dark and get darker over the next 2 days as a scab forms in the area. 30-50% of your pigment will be in the scabs. Over the next 7-14 days your scabs should flake off bit by bit. Some people scab in light flakes and some develop a thick scab.
Everybody is different, but whatever you do, do NOT pick at the scabs and make sure you read through and follow the AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS properly to obtain the best results.
If the scabbing phase is not over by 14 days, please continue your Aftercare instructions until scabs are completely gone.
After the scabbing phase is over, you will see that the color of your pigment appears foggy and muted in color because a layer of skin has grown over the pigment to seal it in. Not to worry, over the next several weeks your skin will regenerate and the pigment will be more vibrant in color. The complete healing process takes at least 6 weeks which is when the true orientation of the pigment will show.
For most people, there shouldn’t be too much of a problem going to work or being out in public, as long as you’re good at following aftercare instructions. However, some people may develop thicker scabs and have minor swelling. You may take an Tylenol or apply an icepack after your treatment to reduce swelling and discomfort.
The eyelids can swell a little in some people, and appear puffy, and the eyes can sometimes have minor redness. Usually within a few hours, this will resolve and your eyes and eye area will look relatively normal – it will just appear as though you have slightly thicker liquid eyeliner on (the line shrinks as swelling dissipates).
Healing is very fast for eyeliner, normally within a couple of weeks. A very small amount of dry skin may shed from the eyelid around day 3-7, and the eyelids may need a little tight or dry during this time, but time off from work or social events past the day of the treatment is not normally required.
You do need to have your eyelash extensions removed at least 2 days prior to any eyeliner tattoo treatment, and complete healing (around 2 weeks) must occur before they can be re-applied. For any extensions applied by us, removal is free – please be sure to book it in a few days prior to your treatment though – it’s best not to do it the same day.
Your eyes and any touching around or near the the eyes need to be avoided in the healing period for hygiene reasons, as you need to clean the eyelid skin very well.
The good news is that as soon as healing has taken place, you can have your extensions reapplied. Imagine how fantastic that will be – never having to worry about mascara or eyeliner again!
